UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State College of Engineering’s Office of Corporate and Industry Engagement invites faculty to the next installment of the I-CONNECT series: "Inventorship vs. Authorship vs. Ownership." The workshop will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in-person at 504 Engineering Collaborative Research and Education (ECoRE) Building and virtually via Zoom.
This session will help faculty understand the critical distinctions between inventorship, authorship and ownership in academic and industry research contexts.
Speakers include:
- Bin Yan, associate vice president for research and director of the Office of Technology Transfer at Penn State
- Randy Rueth, partner at Marshall Gerstein
- Jennifer Burnette, partner and chair of Chemical Sciences at Marshall Gerstein
The event is part of I-CONNECT (Industry Collaboration Opportunities for Networking, Nurturing, Education, Communication and Translation) a new workshop series designed to equip faculty with practical tools and strategies for engaging with industry.
“I-CONNECT workshops bring together experts and faculty peers to help strengthen faculty engagement and collaboration with industry,” said Priya Baboo, senior director of corporate and industry engagement in the Penn State College of Engineering. “This session focuses on the distinction between inventorship, authorship, and ownership while equipping faculty with practical tools to build partnerships.”
Registration is free and available online.
