17 new faculty members join the College of Engineering

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Seventeen new faculty members have joined the Penn State College of Engineering since early fall 2022. The 12 tenured or tenure-line faculty and six professional track faculty represent 11 units and departments and include one new department head.
“We are glad to welcome these new faculty members to the College of Engineering,” said Anthony Atchley, acting dean of the College of Engineering. “With expertise across our strategic priorities, they have already started to make their mark at Penn State. From collaborative research approaches to inventive teaching methods, our new colleagues will help us build an inclusive, innovative engineering community empowered to positively impact people around the world.”
This list includes new faculty members who started at the college between Sept. 2, 2022, and Jan. 31 of this year.
Tenure-line faculty who joined the college in fall 2022 or early spring:
- Christos Argyropoulos, associate professor of electrical engineering
- Anton Bankevich, assistant professor of computer science and engineering
- Stefan Canzar, associate professor of computer science and engineering
- Junyi Geng, assistant professor of aerospace engineering
- Rômulo Meira-Goes, assistant professor of electrical engineering
- Ashwin Renganathan, assistant professor of aerospace engineering
- Tahira Reid Smith, professor of mechanical engineering
- Jon Schwantes, professor of nuclear engineering
- Madhavan Swaminathan, head and William E. Leonhard Professor of Electrical Engineering
- Daniel Whisler, associate professor, School of Engineering Design and Innovation
- Wenpeng Yin, assistant professor of computer science and engineering
