Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers recognizes Penn State student chapter

4/28/22

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State student chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers was recognized by the national organization with a Fall 2021 Blue Chip Award.

The award is bestowed on chapters up to twice a year based on proven performance, as detailed in their chapter records. According to SHPE, winning “chapters have shown incredible leadership and dedication in their reporting.”

SHPE is the largest organization in the United State for Hispanic people in STEM, with more than 13,000 members and 286 professional and student chapters.

The Penn State SHPE chapter was founded in 1991 and previously won two Blue Chip Awards, one in 2014 and one in 2015. The chapter, now 60-students strong, provides resources, support and opportunities — with the support of corporate and Penn State sponsorship — to contribute to the personal and professional success for members.
