Graduate student recognized in international student paper competition

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Meijun Tian, a doctoral student in electrical engineering at Penn State, has been selected as a top-three finalist in the 2026 Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits and Technologies (RFTT) Student Paper Competition, held as part of the IEEE International Microwave Symposium (IMS) 2026.
The RFTT Student Paper Competition recognizes outstanding student research in radio frequency and microwave technologies. Finalists are selected based on the originality, technical quality and potential impact of their work, with the top papers chosen from submissions by students from institutions around the world.
As a finalist, Tian will present her paper, “A D-Band Passive-Mixer-First Receiver Front-End for an IF-Beamforming Phased Array in 45nm RFSOI,” during the IMS2026 Joint RFSA/RFTT Plenary Session on June 8, where the final rankings will be announced and awards presented.
Tian conducts her research under the supervision of Wooram Lee, associate professor of electrical engineering.
