Xiaoxiao Sun recognized for excellence in biomedical engineering, neuroengineering research

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Xiaoxiao Sun, assistant research professor of biomedical engineering, has been recognized with two awards from Columbia Engineering: the Morton B. Friedman Memorial Prize for Excellence and the Yuen-huo Hung and Chao-chin Huang Award in Biomedical Engineering.
The Morton B. Friedman Memorial Prize for Excellence is awarded annually to a graduating doctoral student in recognition of exceptional achievement and contributions to Columbia Engineering. Sun received the award in acknowledgment of her research contributions in neuroengineering, multimodal neuroimaging and brain-state-guided neurostimulation.
Sun was also named a co-recipient of the Yuen-huo Hung and Chao-chin Huang Award in Biomedical Engineering, which recognizes outstanding doctoral research and scholarly achievement in the field of biomedical engineering.
In addition to receiving the awards, Sun served as a student marshal during Columbia University's Class Day celebrations this past spring.
Her research focuses on developing neuroengineering technologies that integrate brain imaging, artificial intelligence and adaptive neurostimulation to advance precision brain health.
