Mechanical engineering professor honored for heat transfer research contributions

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Steve Lynch, professor of mechanical engineering and director of the Center for Gas Turbine Research, Education and Outreach, has received the 2026 Boelter-McAdams Prize from the Heat Transfer Division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
The Boelter-McAdams Prize recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of heat transfer and honors individuals whose research has advanced the science and engineering of thermal systems. Presented by ASME's Heat Transfer Division, the award is among the division’s most prestigious recognitions for achievement in heat transfer research.
Lynch was selected for his significant research contributions and sustained impact on the heat transfer community.
Lynch will be recognized at the 2026 Summer Heat Transfer Conference (SHTC) on July 28 in Bellevue, Washington, where the award will be formally presented during the conference’s awards ceremony.
