Larry Cheng named Fellow of Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Huanyu "Larry" Cheng, professor of engineering science and mechanics, with affiliations in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, architectural engineering, and industrial and manufacturing engineering, has been named a fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (FIMMM), one of the organization's highest professional honors recognizing significant contributions to the materials, minerals and mining fields.
Fellowship is the most prestigious membership grade awarded by the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IOM3). The distinction recognizes individuals who have established outstanding records of achievement through research, innovation and leadership in academia or industry and have made lasting contributions to the advancement of materials science and engineering.
As a fellow, Cheng joins an international community of distinguished researchers and industry leaders recognized for advancing the materials, minerals and mining professions through impactful research, technological innovation and service to the field. Cheng has received numerous awards and honors for his work, most recently being named a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
