UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Jacob Capets, an undergraduate student in chemical engineering who is also in Schreyer Honors College, has received a Student and Postdoctoral Poster Award from the American Physical Society Division of Polymer Physics (APS DPOLY) for his research on self-healing materials.
Capets’ poster, titled “Rapid Self-Healing of Robust Surface-Tethered Covalent Adaptable Coatings,” was selected from a competitive pool of 85 presentations at the APS meeting. The award recognizes outstanding research contributions presented during the conference’s poster session, which highlights emerging work in polymer science.
His research, conducted under the guidance of advisors Bryan Vogt,, professor of chemical engineering, and Christian Pester, affiliate associate professor of chemical engineering, focuses on developing coatings capable of rapidly repairing themselves, with potential applications in creating more durable and resilient materials.
