May 13, 2025

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Amir Sheikhi, the Dorothy Foehr Huck and J. Lloyd Huck Early Career Chair in Biomaterials and Regenerative Engineering and associate professor of chemical engineering, has been named the 2025 recipient of the TAPPI Nanotechnology Division Mid-Career Award.

Presented annually, the award recognizes individuals for outstanding accomplishments that have helped advance the field of renewable nanomaterials, according to TAPPI. Sheikhi was selected based on the novelty and impact of his research contributions, his positive influence on the careers of others, involvement in the TAPPI International Nanotechnology Division and the number and quality of his publications and patents.

The award committee also considered Sheikhi’s professional honors and research funding. Sheikhi’s work, which integrates nanotechnology with bioengineering to develop sustainable material solutions, has garnered widespread recognition for its scientific and societal impact.

As part of the award, Sheikhi will be recognized in July at the 2025 TAPPI International Conference on Nanotechnology for Renewable Materials in Girona, Spain.
