Dipanjan Pan appointed standing member of NIH nanotechnology study section

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Dipanjan Pan, Huck Chair Professor and professor of nuclear engineering and material sciences and engineering, has been elected to serve as a standing member of the Innovations in Nanosystems and Nanotechnology (INN) Study Section within the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Center for Scientific Review. 

Pan joins a limited number of experts chosen to serve on NIH study sections for a four-year term, and will contribute his expertise to the peer review of grant applications related to nanosystems and nanotechnology. 

The INN Study Section plays a key role in evaluating the scientific merit of proposals aimed at developing innovative nanoscale tools, materials and technologies for biomedical applications. Members are selected for their demonstrated excellence and leadership in the field, as well as their commitment to advancing transformative science. 

Pan earned his doctorate in chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology. He has received numerous honors for his contributions to biomedical engineering, including his 2023 election as a fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, as well as elections to the Royal Society of Chemistry, Royal Society of Biology, American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology.
