UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Sukwon Choi, associate professor of mechanical engineering, has been elected to the grade of fellow by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), a distinction that recognizes exceptional engineering achievements and contributions to the field.
ASME’s fellow grade is reserved for members who have demonstrated at least 10 years of active practice in engineering and a decade of continuous corporate membership with ASME, according to the society’s website. The designation is among the highest honors bestowed by ASME, which represents a global community of mechanical engineers promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing, and skill development across all engineering disciplines. Fellows are nominated by their peers and selected by the ASME Committee of Past Presidents for their significant engineering accomplishments and service to the profession.
Choi, who is also associated with the Penn State Intercollege Graduate Degree Program (IGDP) in Materials Science and Engineering (MatSE), previously received the 2024 Journal of Electronic Packaging (JEP) Best Associate Editor Award from the ASME in October 2024.
