Engineering grad student receives award for water, environment research

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Kenneth Mensah, a graduate student studying civil and environmental engineering (CEE) and advised by Onur Apul, associate professor of CEE, has been honored with the Canham Graduate Studies Scholarship at this year’s Water Environmental Federation’s Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC) ceremony in Chicago.
The Canham Graduate Studies Scholarship is a nationally competitive recognition presented to graduate students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, research innovation and leadership in advancing water environment technologies. Mensah was recognized for his impactful research in water quality engineering and for his commitment to sustainable solutions in environmental systems.
Under Apul’s guidance, Mensah’s work focuses on developing advanced treatment processes to address emerging challenges in water and wastewater management.
