UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Zifan Zhou and Xuan Wang, both electrical engineering doctoral students at Penn State, received third place in the poster presentation competition at the Closing the Gap: Strategies for Effective Methane Emissions Reduction Symposium. The event was held on Aug. 21 at the University of Oklahoma.

Their poster was titled “Securing IoT: Cutting-Edge Cryptographic Algorithms and Protocols for AIMNet (A Showcase of an Integrated Methane Sensing Network in Anadarko Basin).” AIMNet was based on a four-year U.S. Department of Energy project that started in the fall of 2023. Both students are advised by Bin Li, associate professor of electrical engineering and computer science.
