Amir Sheikhi chosen to serve on NIH Biomaterials and Biointerfaces Study Section

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Amir Sheikhi, assistant professor of chemical engineering and Dorothy Foehr Huck and J. Lloyd Huck Early Career Chair in Biomaterials and Regenerative Engineering, was invited to serve as a member of the Biomaterials and Biointerfaces Study Section (BMBI) of the Bioengineering Sciences and Technologies Integrated Review Group, which is part of the Center of Scientific Review for the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
BMBI reviews NIH grant applications concerning biologically relevant research in materials science and the interaction of material surfaces with biological systems, according to the NIH. Sheikhi, who has an affiliation with the Department of Biomedical Engineering, was chosen for the review group due to his research accomplishments, publications in scientific journals, and other significant scientific activities, achievements and honors, according to the award notification.
Sheikhi’s four-year term in the review group will begin on July 1.
