Nov 1, 2024

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — David Reger, a nuclear engineering doctoral student, has been selected as a recipient of the 2024 Mark Mills Award by the Education, Training and Workforce Division (ETWDD) of the American Nuclear Society

The Mark Mills award is a yearly award granted to the student author who submits the best paper contributing to advancement of engineering related to the atomic nucleus. Reger’s paper, “Improving the modeling of near-wall interphase heat transfer in porous media models of Pebble Bed Reactors,” earned him this award.

Reger will be recognized for his accomplishment at the 2024 ANS Winter Conference and Expo. The conference will be held from Nov. 17-21 in Orlando, Florida.

Reger’s award marks the second consecutive year the recognition was awarded to a Penn State student. Last year, Victor Coppo Leite, also a Penn State nuclear engineering doctoral student at the time, received the Mark Mills Award.
