Dec 12, 2024
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Gina Noh, assistant professor of chemical engineering, has been selected as the inaugural recipient of the Michael and Nikki Griffin Early Career Professorship.
The professorship was established in 2022 by Penn State chemical engineering alumnus Michael Griffin and his wife, Nikki, to support a faculty member in the first years of their academic career.
“We are grateful to Mike and Nikki Griffin for creating this early career professorship in chemical engineering, and I am delighted that Professor Gina Noh has been named the inaugural Griffin Professor,” said Phillip Savage, department head of chemical engineering. “She has accomplished much in her first three years at Penn State, and this professorship will help accelerate the impact from her lab.”
Gina Noh began her time as a Penn State professor in 2022, after obtaining her doctorate at the University of California Berkeley and working as a researcher in Zurich. Her areas of research include sustainable chemistry, as well as the physical and chemical properties of catalysts used in chemical reactions.
“I’m honored and humbled to be the inaugural Griffin Professor,” said Noh. “Support from this chair will allow my lab to expand our work and explore exciting new research directions.”
