Soundar Kumara recognized with Pearson’s digital pioneer award

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Soundar Kumara, the Allen E. Pearce and Allen M. Pearce Professor of Industrial Engineering, won a Pearson Excellence in Higher Education Award in the digital pioneer category. The digital pioneer category honors an educator who uses “Pearson digital platform(s) to engage students and provide a personalized learning experience,” according to an award announcement.
"Dr. Kumara is at the forefront of bringing cutting-edge techniques into the classroom,” said Meng Liu, who nominated Kumara for the award. “In a rapidly evolving field like Engineering Analytics, he ensures that the curriculum stays relevant by introducing the latest algorithms, data analysis tools and software platforms. This ensures that students are not just learning theory but are also gaining hands-on experience with tools they will use in their careers."
