UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Aneesh Kshirsagar, an electrical engineering doctoral student advised by Weihua Guan, received a best paper award at the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) Healthcare Innovation — Point-Of-Care Technologies Conference late last month. The conference, organized by the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, took place on Sept.19-20, at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona.
Kshirsagar’s paper, titled “Detection of triple respiratory viruses in saliva using multiplexed RT-LAMP on a machine learning-empowered portable device,” focuses on improving respiratory infection diagnostics using a portable device enhanced with machine learning. The paper introduces an innovative approach to detecting respiratory viruses through non-invasive saliva samples, according to the researchers.
