Sept 30, 2021
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Sachin Gore, assistant teaching professor of mechanical engineering and director of undergraduate studies for the mechanical engineering department, and Andrea Ragonese, associate teaching professor in the School of Engineering Design and Innovation, were recently named 2024 Engineering Unleashed Fellows.
The fellowship recognizes leaders in undergraduate engineering education who have a focus on entrepreneurship. Engineering Unleashed is funded by the Kern Entrepreneurial Engineering Network (KEEN), a partnership of more than 65 U.S. colleges and universities including recent new member Penn State. KEEN’s mission is to instill an entrepreneurial mindset in engineering students.
Over the summer, Gore and Ragonese participated in the Engineering Unleashed Faculty Development National Workshop program, where they developed a project or module focused on integrating an entrepreneurial mindset into practices that benefit their students, institution and society. As part of the fellowship, Gore and Ragonese will be awarded a $10,000 grant from the Kern Family Foundation to advance their institutional project or module, develop a new project or module, participate in conferences and promote their work.
Additionally, the cohort of 31 fellows from 27 institutions will meet, share ideas and learn about each other’s projects during an in-person meeting on October 28-30.
