Engineering Learning Factory to host fall cornerstone, capstone project showcase
Nov 18, 2024
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Learning Factory will host its biannual end-of-semester showcase for engineering students to present their cornerstone and capstone design projects.
The in-person showcase will take place from 1-3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the Bryce Jordan Center, while the virtual showcase will take place Wednesday, Dec. 11, through Friday, Dec. 20. Both versions of the event are free and open to the public.
The showcase provides an opportunity for first-year cornerstone and senior capstone engineering students across the College of Engineering to present their solutions to real-world engineering design challenges for sponsors. Typically, teams of four to six students work for 15 weeks on designing a product, process, software or service for a local or national firm or governmental office.
Projects, posters and videos will be judged for awards, including a People’s Choice Award, voted on by attendees of both the in-person and virtual versions of the showcase. Winners will be announced at the end of the showcase and listed on the showcase website.
A complete list of current projects and sponsors can be found online. Companies interested in sponsoring projects for future Learning Factory showcases can find more information here.
