Penn State ranked first in the nation for faculty Fulbright Scholars
University tied for No. 1 among U.S. research institutions and set a new institutional record with 17 Fulbright Scholars

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State has been ranked first in the nation in faculty Fulbright Scholar awards by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The University tied with the University of Arizona, with 17 faculty members offered Fulbright awards for academic year 2022-23.
Since the 2015-16 awards cycle, five faculty with College of Engineering affiliations have been awarded Fulbrights. They are:
- Hui Yang, professor of industrial and manufacturing engineering (VTT Technical Research Center of Finland, Finland), 2022-23
- Thomas Boothby, professor of architectural engineering (Universite de Picardie Jules Verne, France), 2022-23
- Enrique del Castillo, Distinguished Professor of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering and professor of statistics (Universidad de Coimbra, Portugal), 2019-20
- Vittaldas Prabhu, professor of industrial and manufacturing engineering and Charles and Enid Schneider Faculty Chair in Service Enterprise Engineering (Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi), 2018-19
- Joan Redwing, professor of materials science and engineering and of electrical engineering (University of Lund, Sweden), 2015-16
