2/18/2022

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Parisa Shokouhi, associate professor of engineering science and mechanics and acoustics at Penn State, recently received the Institute for Materials Science Distinguished Faculty Scholar Award from the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. The award provides financial assistance and travel support for a faculty member and their students to spend eight to 12 weeks during the summer months at LANL. While there, Shokouhi and three of her students will collaborate with LANL scientists on Shokouhi’s current research, which involves quantitative ultrasonic materials characterization through machine learning based on experimental and simulated data. Shokouhi was selected to develop new capabilities for the laboratory and to engage with and impact a broad set of LANL science, according to LANL.
