UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Gina Noh joined Penn State as an assistant professor of chemical engineering on Jan. 1. She came to Penn State from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich where she worked as a postdoctoral research fellow. She heads the Noh Research Group, where her team studies the development of catalysts that can improve sustainability in chemical processes. Noh earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.

“My research group focuses on developing catalysts for sustainable processes and materials for environmental remediation,” Noh said. “Specific aims include chemical upcycling of plastics and degradation of persistent organic pollutants.”
