Mechanical engineering students build science exhibits to foster community collaboration

1/31/2022

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — As part of the course work for ME 340: Mechanical Engineering Design Methodology, undergraduate students from the Penn State Department of Mechanical Engineering created children’s science exhibits for the Discovery Space Science Museum in State College. ME 340 provides mechanical engineering students with the fundamental tools to produce an effective design solution in a realistic professional environment. By building these exhibits, students demonstrate the engineering skills they learned and give back to the community through collaboration with a local business. Jason Moore, associate professor of mechanical engineering, has taught ME 340 and led the collaboration with the Discovery Space Science Museum since 2013. The project supplies are supported by The Boeing Company.
