UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Marek Flaska, associate professor of nuclear engineering at Penn State, was named the specialty chief editor for the radiation measurements and safety section of Frontiers in Nuclear Engineering, a new journal planned to launch in spring 2022. The journal will focus on nuclear engineering research areas, including Flaska’s specialty area, as well as fission and reactor design; fusion and plasma physics; nuclear materials; and radioactive waste management.

Flaska was selected from a nomination pool with candidates from around the world. As a specialty chief editor, he is responsible for establishing a long-term vision for the section and curating a board of editors to facilitate manuscript submissions.

“I will proactively guide the growth and equality of the section, in a strategic partnership with my Frontiers editorial team, by determining the influential research themes to be featured in the section as article collections,” Flaska said.
