3/28/2022

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Sienna Helfrich, a 2013 chemical engineering graduate, was selected to receive the Alumni Achievement Award from the Penn State Alumni Association. Awardees are nominated by an academic college or campus and invited by the president of the University to share their expertise with students and the Penn State community, according to the press release. The honorees were chosen for their ability to demonstrate to students that Penn State alumni succeed in an exceptional fashion at an early age.

Helfrich, who double majored in toxicology from the College of Agricultural Sciences and chemical engineering from the College of Engineering, works as a senior operations leader and integration leader at Dow in Victoria, Texas. In her role she facilitates the implementation of Dow’s health and safety standards, operating discipline and management systems. She also serves as the Dow North America Women’s Inclusion Network manufacturing and operations co-lead, working to increase recruitment and promotion of women in manufacturing and senior management roles. Helrich has been active in the Penn State Chemical Engineering Alumni Society since 2013 and the Penn State Engineering Alumni Society since 2019.

Ten other Penn State alumni received the award and were honored at an awards ceremony on March 18. For more information, see the full press release.
