Civil and environmental engineering research faculty wins communications award

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Gopal Bhatt, an assistant research professor of civil and environmental engineering in the Penn State College of Engineering, was part of a multi-institutional team that recently received a 2022 Blue Pencil and Gold Screen Award from the National Association of Government Communicators (NAGC). According to the NAGC website, these awards recognize government communicators and the tools they produce to deliver information to the public. Bhatt and his team were honored with the Award of Excellence in the technical or statistical report category for their project, “Nitrogen in the Chesapeake Bay watershed — A century of change, 1950-2050.” The team produced a circular and YouTube video as communication tools to bring awareness to the importance of sustaining the water resources and health of the diverse ecosystems in the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
