3/25/2022

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Andrew Barnard joined the Penn State College of Engineering as professor and director of the graduate program in acoustics on Jan. 1. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from Michigan Technological University and a doctorate in acoustics from Penn State. Prior to joining Penn State, Barnard was a mechanical engineering faculty member at MTU and served as director of the Great Lakes Research Center, an interdisciplinary research institute at MTU.

I research a broad array of acoustics problems including industrial noise control, building acoustics, acoustic intensity, underwater acoustics, carbon nanotube thermophone transducers and machine learning for acoustic tracking,” Barnard said. “I’m excited to work with those in other disciplines to solve problems, big and small.”
