What: William Bahnfleth, professor of architectural engineering at Penn State and chair of the American Society of Heating and Air-Conditioning Engineers’ Epidemic Task Force, was featured in a Scientific American article that discussed the importance and urgency behind upgrading buildings’ ventilation and filtration to decrease COVID-19 transmission and improve health and cognitive performance. Bahnfleth discussed ASHRAE’s mission to set standards for acceptable indoor air quality and ways to minimize risk of transmission with current ventilation rates.
