UNIVERSITY Park, Pa. — Scott Patti, vice president of business planning, transformation and operations for Dell, has been named one of 11 recipients of the 2022 Outstanding Engineering Alumni Award by the Penn State College of Engineering.
Patti graduated from Penn State in 2001 with a bachelor of science in computer engineering. After graduation, Patti worked for Lockheed Martin for five years, developing electronics for various military aircraft. While working there, Patti earned a master of science in computing engineering from Binghamton University. In 2006, he joined Dell. According to Patti, Dell’s work impacts everyone, everywhere, by developing technology ranging from hybrid cloud solutions to high-performance computing to ambitious social impact and sustainability initiatives.
In his current role, he focuses on growing a new line of business to deliver Dell technologies in an “as-a-service” model. In more than 15 years at Dell, Patti has held various engineering and leadership roles, including in Dell’s x86 Server division, and he has coached and mentored several Dell team members. He regularly speaks at various leadership forums within Dell, including new hire orientations.
Outside of work, Patti enjoys spending time with his family. He has been married for 18 years to Kim, who earned her bachelor of science in biochemistry and molecular biology from Penn State. They reside in Austin, Texas, and have three children: Sarah, 16; Luke, 14; and Anna, 10. Their weekends are spent at their children’s various events, including orchestra, fencing, golf, volleyball and baseball. Patti also spends his fall weekends riding what he calls “the highs and lows” of Penn State football, but he calls himself the eternal optimist and believes that their next national championship is just a year away.
In service to Penn State, Patti serves as a member of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science’s Industrial and Professional Advisory Council and alumni board.
